Welcome to our club

Family Karate Clubs are very much run as a family unit by myself and my partner and two children.  I am also assisted by Adele who helps and make Family Karate Clubs the success it is today. Myself Master James  and my wife Adele are certified martial arts instructors and also enhanced CRB checked.

We have several training venues which are located at Failsworth Sports Centre, Radclyffe School (Chadderton) and Oasis Academy Oldham.

Our clubs are based on fun for the children with the emphasis on the key concepts being respect, discipline, concentration and confidence building. Parts of the Martial Arts Training Programme for the children consists of mat chats ensuring all children are aware of the following:

·         Potential Stranger Dangers

·         First Aid

·         Fire Safety

·         Health and Wellbeing

·         Road Safety

·         and more!!!!!

We also encourage the parents of the children to join in the classes if they want to. Currently, my student's age ranges from 4 up to 65+.

Please note all members are encouraged to progress at their own pace in an environment where they are free from physical harm or emotional intimidation.

We aim to teach karate in a fun way whilst giving our students the confidence and support they need to Black belt. The classes are open to anyone regardless of age or ability you don't have to be super fit or super confident just turn up and try a couple of lessons.

Question & Answer

Do I have to be in shape to get started?

Not at all. You’ll find that our classes for beginners are the perfect way to build up your overall fitness level regardless of your physical condition.

Can I watch my child in class?

Yes! Come along as we actively encourage parents and guardians to watch, as this gives you an insight into how they are getting on.  All we ask is you introduce yourself to one of our instructors then take a seat.

Am I too old to start Tang Soo Do Karate?

No, of course not. We cater for all ages and levels of experience. Take your time and work within your own abilities. Start by learning the fundamentals and see how you progress.

Will I get hurt during the training?

Our instructors will teach you the core skills and how to execute them safely. All our instructors are trained and classes are supported with insurance in the unlikely event of injury.

Self-Awareness

Self-awareness is about learning to better understand why you feel what you feel and why you behave in a particular way. Once you begin to understand this concept you then have the opportunity and freedom to change things about yourself enabling you to create a life that you want.

Self-Confidence

Self-confidence is an attitude about your skills and abilities. It means you accept and trust yourself and have a sense of control in your life. You know your strengths and weakness well and have a positive view of yourself. You set realistic expectations and goals, communicate assertively, and can handle criticism.

Self-Belief

Self-belief means knowing yourself as a person in your own right, trusting in your own judgement, your intuitions and sense-making, how your point of view is of value, how you step up to challenges, even if you do not yet have the knowledge. Then, how you understand your capacity to learn, experiment, explore, inquire, to have a go, to imagine success.
