Welcome to our club
Family Karate Clubs are very much run as a family unit by myself and my partner and two children. I am also assisted by Adele who helps and make Family Karate Clubs the success it is today. Myself Master James and my wife Adele are certified martial arts instructors and also enhanced CRB checked.
We have several training venues which are located at Failsworth Sports Centre, Radclyffe School (Chadderton) and Oasis Academy Oldham.
Our clubs are based on fun for the children with the emphasis on the key concepts being respect, discipline, concentration and confidence building. Parts of the Martial Arts Training Programme for the children consists of mat chats ensuring all children are aware of the following:
· Potential Stranger Dangers
· First Aid
· Fire Safety
· Health and Wellbeing
· Road Safety
· and more!!!!!
We also encourage the parents of the children to join in the classes if they want to. Currently, my student's age ranges from 4 up to 65+.
Please note all members are encouraged to progress at their own pace in an environment where they are free from physical harm or emotional intimidation.
We aim to teach karate in a fun way whilst giving our students the confidence and support they need to Black belt. The classes are open to anyone regardless of age or ability you don't have to be super fit or super confident just turn up and try a couple of lessons.
Question & Answer
Not at all. You’ll find that our classes for beginners are the perfect way to build up your overall fitness level regardless of your physical condition.
Yes! Come along as we actively encourage parents and guardians to watch, as this gives you an insight into how they are getting on. All we ask is you introduce yourself to one of our instructors then take a seat.
No, of course not. We cater for all ages and levels of experience. Take your time and work within your own abilities. Start by learning the fundamentals and see how you progress.
Our instructors will teach you the core skills and how to execute them safely. All our instructors are trained and classes are supported with insurance in the unlikely event of injury.
Meet Our Instructors
Hello, I'm Nick but known as Master James in class.
I have been training in Martial Arts for twenty-seven years now and commenced my training in 1994 where I passed my first black belt dan test in 1998, followed by my second, third fourth and fifth dan.
Hi, I'm Adele.
I started my training back in 2012, and in October 2015 I passed my 1st Dan grading. I then passed my 2nd Dan in December 2017.
Hi, I'm Chris.
I've been training since 2009 and in 2012 I passed my 1st Dan grading, followed by my 2nd Dan in 2015 and my 3rd Dan in 2017.
What do you think!
My son had been doing karate for over 6 months at a previous club where he was unhappy. After speaking with Master James and being invited for 2 FREE taster lessons, my son loved it. He learnt more from his first taster lesson than he'd done in 6 months at his old club.
Great family friendly club. Take your fitness to the next level and learn a martial art at the same time. 👊
Family Karate Clubs were very welcoming when my son first started. Nick made him feel at ease as he was very nervous and shy, he was included in all the training activities and got to watch the higher grade students learn to give him an insight into what he can do.
I’ve always wanted to do self-defence training, but have been too nervous to join a club. I rang and spoke to Nick at who was very friendly and was invited to have 2 trial sessions to see if I liked it. Best thing I have ever done and the staff and members are so friendly, it’s like one big family.
